News ArticleRapattoni SSO connects with eNeighborhoods MLSAllianceMLSAlliance adopts SAML 2.0 to be compliant with Single Sign-On portals
SIMI VALLEY, Calif., October 29, 2007 – eNeighborhoods announced today that its MLSAlliance data sharing platform is now SAML 2.0 compliant, paving the way for the product to work with Single Sign-On (SSO) identity portals. Rapattoni Corporation's SSO feature, which is available to all Rapattoni MLS customers, can now include links to MLSAlliance systems. The first deployment of the new SSO feature went live this month on the California MLSAlliance system for the nearly 50,000 members of Quattro, a data-sharing initiative in Northern California that utilizes Rapattoni MLS. Quattro was founded in 2006 by the San Francisco Association of REALTORS®, MetroList Services, Inc. in Sacramento, and the Bay Area Real Estate Information Services, Inc. Rapattoni provides SSO software and hosting for all of its MLS customers to take advantage of at their option. This feature allows members to log on one time — using their user ID and password, and optionally a stronger token-based authentication — and then be able to access any other authorized website without having to log on again. The California MLSAlliance, developed and managed by eNeighborhoods, is an MLS gateway providing agents and brokers with a single source for accessing real estate information throughout California. The system provides 185,000 brokers and agents in California with access to over 2.5 million active listings and off-market properties from 47 local real estate associations. "Working with Rapattoni's technology staff we were able to accomplish SAML 2.0 compliance in just a few weeks," said Dan Woolley, senior vice president of technology for eNeighborhoods. "SSO technology opens many important opportunities for the real estate industry. It paves the way for effective reciprocal agreements between MLSs, it facilitates MLS data sharing, and at the same time it brings wonderful convenience to MLS subscribers." Rapattoni's Single Sign-On (SSO) feature is based on the security industry standard SAML technology. This technology allows the customer to establish "trust" relationships between websites. Rapattoni's SSO program creates and sends an attached SAML "file" along with a link that can be received by any complying vendor's website. This process allows the user to avoid repeated logons. Once the user has gained access to a compliant remote site, they can move freely between the websites.
